PNG-Solomon Islands Business Investment Forum: Turning High-Level Leadership into Real Economic Capital

Overview

The inaugural 1st Papua New Guinea–Solomon Islands Business Investment Forum recently concluded at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara. Co-organised by the Papua New Guinea Solomon Islands Business Council Inc. (PNGSIBC) and the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), the historic summit brought together Solomon Islands Prime Minister Hon. Matthew Wale and PNG Prime Minister Hon. James Marape, alongside Minister Hon. Harry Kuma (Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration) and Minister Hon. Derick Manuari (Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification), key policymakers, industry leaders, and cross-border business representatives.

As a core co-sponsor under the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI), InvestSolomons was proud to represent the nation's investment promotion mandate throughout this bilateral event.

Attracting Serious Investment Interest

We are particularly pleased that this landmark event succeeded in attracting serious, high-caliber investors actively seeking real commercial opportunities in the Solomon Islands. The quality of engagement throughout the summit clearly demonstrated growing regional confidence in our domestic market and investment climate.

The InvestSolomons Perspective: From Bilateral Dialogue to Delivery

While Prime Ministers Wale and Marape set a vision for a shared Melanesian economic corridor, InvestSolomons serves as the critical operational bridge that turns these executive-level commitments into active, registered business operations. As the official first point of contact for regional and international investment, our team focused on aligning government agencies on both sides to deliver seamless support for incoming capital.Moving forward, InvestSolomons is focusing on four strategic priorities driven by the forum's outcomes:

  • Centralized Investor Facilitation: Serving as the single-entry window for PNG enterprises and joint ventures navigating registration and regulatory approvals.
  • Whole-of-Government Coordination: Working alongside partner regulatory, tax, and trade agencies across both nations to ensure a transparent, predictable journey for cross-border investors.
  • Targeting Priority Growth Sectors: Actively facilitating investor inquiries stemming from the forum's key discussion areas, including downstream tuna processing, commercial agro-processing, infrastructure, renewable energy, and tourism.
  • Local MSME Integration: Ensuring incoming regional capital partners with local Solomon Islands businesses to foster skills transfer, create jobs, and drive sustainable, shared economic value.

Ready to Partner

InvestSolomons commends the PNGSIBC, SICCI, MCILI, and Prime Ministers Wale and Marape for establishing this vital economic platform. Our team stands ready to assist prospective investors in converting every lead and agreement from the Honiara forum into thriving, operational businesses in the Solomon Islands.
